Beginning of music education for Vahdat artist girls; from rhythm to growth

At the Vahdat Mentally Disabled Care Center, special music classes will be held for the center’s clients starting in the first week of October to provide clients with a new opportunity for growth, happiness, and expression of emotions through a universal language.

In an atmosphere full of passion and smiles, the talented girls of Vahdat are being introduced to a new world these days; a world where sound, rhythm, and emotion build a bridge between silence and speech.

The music education class at the Vahdat Center was started with the aim of strengthening cognitive skills, increasing concentration, and improving the morale of clients. It is held every Sunday and has consisted of three sessions so far. In the first step, after identifying talents based on each client’s ability and grouping them, the training began with understanding rhythm; where each strike on the tambourine or drum or synchronized clapping was an excuse to practice order, coordination, and communication. In fact, by using special educational methods, the music instructor tries to strengthen the clients’ sense of hearing and movement and turn music into a language for their self-expression..

According to center officials, this program is part of a comprehensive approach to empowering and uplifting clients, and music, as a therapeutic tool, plays an important role in improving the quality of life and developing social skills of people with intellectual disabilities. Therefore, the Unity Center is striving to continue on this path and provide a dynamic and promising environment for its clients.
